Abstract

Background and Objectives: The damages that are inflicted to various organs will result in brining about the RSD. This is a very painful and severe illness and if it is not treated in the early days, it will be difficult to treat any way. As time goes by, let's say with in 3 to 6 months the pain for the sufferer of the RSD not only will remain almost for his or her entire life span but also it will intensify. The pain of the sufferers of RSD can be to the sufferers may commit suicide. %5 of those who sufferer chronic pain will have the RSD. The objectives of the study of the RSD is about evaluating how to reduce the pain and suffering of the patients. Materials and Methods: This study is carried out over 12 patients who had the RSD for various reasons. After examinations, once was found a patient suffer from the RSD, a written consent signed and agreed with the patient so that the satellite ganglion can be blocked. Let's consider how to block the satellite ganglion: The patients lay in supine position. The amount of 12 to 15 milli liters of the 0. %25 of Bupivacaine was injected to the satellite ganglion. For carrying out of the first and second round of injection to ganglion, 40 milli gram of Methylprednisolone is added. In addition a minimum injection of the satellite ganglion was 3 times and maximum was 13 time. Result: Once the blocking was preformed the patient felt fine. The organs that suffered from the RSD, they got warm and the pain reduced to a considerable amount. Horner syndrome was apparent in all patients i.e. it was %100. There were no apparent major complications in any of the patients. Once all of the above procedures were carried out, the patients were seen by the physiotherapist consultants, and they were satisfactorily discharged. Conclusion: Some patients who have been suffering chronic pain and a number of those suffer of the RSD, if they are treated on time, their pain and suffering will be solved. We are asking our colleagues, if they confront these sorts of patients, they should refer them to the relevant hospitals so that they can be properly treated.
